This was Hard. By all accounts one of the muddiest and most difficult years for footing. I was not in as good shape as previous years, and actually got to a point, about 3 miles from the finish, where my legs were so tired, they could not stand up, or stabilize in the mud. I walked more those last few miles than I wanted to.
Still... my race photos from 1/4 mile to finish. I'm Smiling.
I love this race
What would you do differently?:

Train more. The leg issue was my fault. I think I drank enough, and had the right amount food. The mud was a challenge, I had a moderate trail shoe on, but I am not sure anything more aggressive would have helped.
Post race
Warm down:

Grilled Cheese, Veggie Soup, Coffee, and a warm car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training, and some pretty Epic wet and Mud.

Event comments:

I just love this race. It always challenges, and each year I can't wait to do it again.

I can train for half marathons on pavement and on trails, but as soon as I change it up to gravel or loose dirt my knee swells and the pain it causes is unreal. Any ideas why this happens?

Both the Lake Triathlon Shoe CX210TRI and the Lake Road Shoe CX225 offer distinct advantages. I tested both shoes and found them to be extremely comfortable, good looking and durable.
