Run
Comments: Start was in a field in 2 feet of snow so the first couple hundred yards were high knees. Once we got to the trail, it was single track and backed up, so had to walk the first hundred yards or so. Then it started to move. Since it was deep snow and a single track trail, basically I would have to microburst and sprint off the track through the snow around the outside to pass people. This as well as the hills, kept my HR up. Not a fast course today I don't think. On the downhills, my goal was to not fall or get injured. Glad I didn't. Legs felt a little crampy and heavy during the last mile, otherwise felt pretty good. Finished about mid-pack in my age and 53/234 overall in my first trail race. Key I think in the future is to sprint really hard at first to secure a good position once on the trail so you don't have to burn matches passing people throughout. Post race
Warm down: walked, was a little sore and crampy What limited your ability to perform faster: single track trail, crowded the first mile, red wine the night before made me a little crampy at the end Event comments: first trail race, in the snow, kind of fun, got the HR up and didn't get hurt or fall Last updated: 2015-02-14 12:00 AM
