Swim
Comments: Last out of the water. :( One woman went off course a couple of times and swam UNDER me, then turned around and swam UNDER me again. What would you do differently?: Swim faster. Transition 1
Comments: We had to run over a sandy path, so I took time to rinse the sand, sticks, and other debris off my feet before putting my socks on. I probably would not have done this for a Sprint, but I did for an Olympic. Last Olympic person out of transition :( What would you do differently?: Have a bottle of water ready in transition to rinse my feet, if needed, rather than use a water bottle from my bike. Maybe have some Wet Ones or something like that available. Bike
Comments: My back started hurting again probably the last five miles or so of the ride. I'd forgotten my bike computer, so I didn't have any speed feedback to help me keep my pace up. What would you do differently?: Ride faster. I don't know why I'm so slow. Transition 2
Comments: T2 did not get timed. I had to take a blue room break, which involved running out of the transition area, and then running back into it. I'm not sure why it didn't get timed, however, as I did not run over any timing mats on my way to or from the blue rooms. Took a second hydrocodone. Run
Comments: Run includes T2 time, which was probably about 4 minutes. My back was hurting pretty bad by this point. My left arm no longer hurt because both arms hurt by now, so they matched. I ran most of the way, but did some occasional walking. GPS watch did not kick in for the first mile and a half. M1: 13:16/4.5 mph <--this starts a mile and a half into the race M2: 14:00/4.3 mph M3: 14:39/4.1 mph M4: 14:09/4.2 mph M4.34: 5:01/4.1 mph <--this is actually the end of the race What would you do differently?: I think I did as well as could be expected, with my back hurting and my fourth triathlon in 15 days. Post race
Warm down: The pizza truck was leaving as I crossed the finish line, so I packed up my gear and drove to the nearest restaurant and ate everything on the menu. What limited your ability to perform faster: My body. I was hurting and tired. Too many races in too short of time, and back trouble, which is unusual for me. Event comments: These are always well organized races and fun to participate in. The air quality was good as the smoke from the nearby wildfires had cleared away. I love the atmosphere of women-only races, although the views are not nearly as good. I will definitely participate again next year! (But maybe not participate in so many the weeks before!) Drove two hours to Medical Lake.
Set up transition, wandered around. Picked up trash on the swim exit path and on the beach. My back was really hurting, and my left arm, so took a hydrocodone before the race start. Swam a bit. The water was warmer than the air.
