Comments: Solid swim, pretty darn good considering it was my first time in the water this year. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: No issues What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Really solid bike. Improving my speed has been a focus this year, and it paid off here. Kept the pace hard throughout. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: No issues What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Came out of T2 in second place, and was looking to throw down a good run here and maybe redeem myself for falling out of first place here last year. I dropped the hammer right away and just wanted to hang on for 3 miles. Once we got to the straight away section, I noticed the guy out in front stop for a second and stretch his calf. Never show weakness; he was mine. He was still running really fast though, and it was very slow going to reel him in. After the turn around I was able to check what was going on behind me, and there was no one charging. This was a 2 man race now. I finally made contact and stayed behind him for a little bit to regroup and prepare for the charge to separate. With about 1 mile to go I made my move and went around him, and really dropped the pace to try to demoralize him into letting up. After a few minutes I checked back and it looked like I popped him, he was fairly far back. Coming off the rail trail and into the home stretch, I took one last look to make sure he wasn't charging, only to see that he was! So I threw down a sprint finish to hold him off and win by just 4 seconds. What would you do differently?: Nothing, awesome run. Really glad I checked on him with a few hundred meters left! Post race
Warm down: Walked around, and got ready to see Leigh finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing Event comments: So glad I was able to redeem my disappointing loss after leading two different times during the race last year. I really do like HITS races, despite what some say. Seeing the kids get to do a triathlon afterwards is so much fun too. Last updated: 2017-10-22 12:00 AM

Ate breakfast and drove down to William's Lake
Leigh was running late, so my warm up consisted of running out to the parking area to try to find her, then frantically getting her set up in transition. Barely got in my wetsuit on time.
