Comments: I was nervous about how crowded the pool might get, but it was fine. I only got tangled up twice, and both times, the person in front of me was kind enough to let my get by. My goal was 1:50/hm pace, and I beat that by a significant amount. Very happy with the performance. Transition 1
Comments: Long transition run for what is otherwise a very compact transition area. Pavement was a bit rough, so my "run" was more of a slow trot. Bike
Comments: Rough road - I saw at least 5 other athletes blow flat tires. A decent sized hill that we hit twice. I pushed it fairly hard - probably could have gone after it a little bit harder. I'm just glad I didn't blow a flat. Transition 2
Comments: Missed the transition in (it wasn't very clear). Probably cost me ten seconds. Everything else was fast. Run
Comments: Pretty disappointed. I didn't have a lot left in the tank. I think I've lost some of my run fitness. Part of that is that I've done little to no speed work in a really long time, really since the last race. I did a good job climbing the last hill and bringing it in hard. What would you do differently?: Speed work - maybe actually train for the race Post race
Warm down: Ha What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of focused preparation for the race. Event comments: This is a decent local race. The bike course is in pretty rough shape, which would be my only complaint about the course. There was not a lot of pre-race communication (until the day before), and no real useful course information. Race day, this was very organized and well-run. No complaints about the race day experience. The entry fee is very reasonable for what you get, and there is good competition. If I continue with triathlon, this is a race I would consider doing again. Last updated: 2018-07-16 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30. BM, ate breakfast (oatmeal, protein powder, blueberries) and had a coffee, out the door by 5:05.
Transition was an easy set up. Walked a little bit of the bike course to get an idea of transition in/out. Felt a rumble in my stomach, so hit up the porta potty. This is the second race this year where this has happened (and the only two times it's ever happened). The common thread - Fuzzy's for dinner the night before. I won't be doing that again.
Easy 15 minute run on the run course. Discovered that the big hill at the end was, in fact, huge. That was good to find out beforehand.
