Subject: Any Experiences...Coming off Defibrillator Installation Hey There,
On 1/21 i was on a business trip and had a heart deal that sent me into a coma for a couple and days and included me driving a rental car off the road and then getting Chest Compression (4 broken ribs ) and 3 individual hits with the paddles.
I was kept on ice for a few days while they got my family together (from PA, BC, Ont, FLA ) so that they could see me before my ultimate demise. Turns out that I survived and surprisingly have no noticeable heart damage and (as of yet ) no significant brain damage from the oxygen loss. A week later they put in a defibrillator, which is the most painful part so far.
So...Anyone come back from something like this and do what we do???
I have been training pretty hard going into this, but expect a full month off before easing my way back in. Meeting with Electrophysiologist (sp )/cardiologist on 2/25. Hoping for release to get back to training at that time.
Eagleman 70.3 06/09 is my first race of the year
Independent Olympic in August
IMLP 70.3 09/09
I have changed my goals on Eagleman, get to the end. Had strong targets in the 5:30 range but I can't imagine that my training isn't going to suffer significantly...
Just venting here a bit, but look forward to any feedback that folks may have. |
