The run itself was great. The website said that the bus left for the start at 9. Since I signed up the day before, I missed a pre-race email which had the correct bus departure time of 8:15. So I showed up at the finish area at 8:30, only to have to then drive to the start line. Got out of the car as they were starting hte race. I ultiamtely started right at 5 min after the gun went off, but the run was great. Beautiful weather, but hard trail. It was nice just picking off people the whole way and never getting passed. Never pushed hard, as my knee had been and was still sore for a week or so. Nice, consistent effort the whole way. Walked when the terrain was too steep or over boulders, but ran whenever I could, even up most hills. Only 1 water stop, but that was well publicized, so I had everything I needed. Great low-key, low frills race. RD couldn't have been better about the website misinformation. He even drove my car back to the finish area so it was there when I finished.

knee soreness wasn't a huge issue, but I certaily wasn't going to push it too hard.


It is publicized as a low key, low suuport race, which it is. No one should've been surprised by it, so I can 't fault it for that. The website did have an error, but the RD was great about it, and I think that I was the only one that was affected by it. They still started a little before 9 - I'm not sure what the official race start time was since I signed up too late to get the final pre-race briefing email. Great location and trail. I'll do it again.
