Run
Comments: Run was pretty good. Mile 5 was where I paused to strip off my l/s shirt and gloves - which is why it's a bit lower. I was only passed twice after mile 6, and around mile 9 I started picking off folks in front of me. Strong pacing effort resulted in some great splits on the back 8. Last mile split was fantastic (for me) - 7:18 - wow didn't know I had it in me. Outkicked some guy trying to pass in the last 100 meters - not a chance he was gonna catch me. What would you do differently?: Run faster if I could. I was pretty much giving it what I could without going too deep into it - this was, after all only a tune up race during my recovery week... though I always feel like I could do just a little bit more. Great tune up for Changs! 9 hours post race, feel good, some tired knees as evidenced by the shaking on the ladder while putting up xmas lights... Post race
Warm down: Grabbed a food bag - bagel, honey and oats bar, an apple and some joint fuel. Ate the bagel and bar and a banana - skipped the rest. Stretched a bit. Walked back to the car. What limited your ability to perform faster: Raced as planned - reached my goal and got a PR - 7:16 better than Chang's half last year. Event comments: Great race - small crowd, very little in the was of expo or goodies, but it's cheap and fun - very few walkers and people actually line up like they should. Not too much.
Took our time getting to the race, because it was 40 degrees outside and we had no intention of standing around with the little one in the cold.
All said, I got about a half mile to the restroom and then back to the start at ~9:00minP.
