Pre-race routine:

The race was at 7:00 I woke up around 5:30 Had my gear together the night before. My wife was going to accompany my but she decided to sleep in. I had a nutrigrain bar and yogurt at home. On the way over there I had gatorade. The night before I went for pasta.
Event warmup:

Swam about 50 meters slow trying to get used the murky water and temperature. Did some stretching and checked out the hot babes around me.
Swim
  • 17m 24s
  • 850 meters
  • 02m 03s / 100 meters
Comments:

Have to work on rounding bouy...there was a lot of guys piling up towards the bouy and was hard to breathe. Next time I will do breast stroke around them.
What would you do differently?:

Do breast stroke around bouy to avoid getting hit and pushed and kicked.
Transition 1
  • 02m 6s
Comments:

I was very disoriented during the transition. I had clipped my shoes to the pedals beforehand and one of them came off as I was running with the bike. I had on my helmet backwards until somebody told me to change it. Forgot my glasses and had to run back and get them.
What would you do differently?:

I should try to orient myself a bit better after the swim.
Bike
  • 1h 03m 33s
  • 20 miles
  • 18.88 mile/hr
Comments:

I was still influenced by people passing me. I was thinking that guy passed me up like I was sitting still. Somebody would pass me and I would automatically try to keep up with him and I would get out of my rythm. Spent most of my time in aero position and felt pretty good!!! Small changes that I have made to the bike position have made it more comfortable to stay aero.
What would you do differently?:

Keep to my own pace and not get influenced by the people around me. I should run my own race.
Transition 2
  • 03m 12s
Comments:

Overall I did pretty good during this transition. I was a bit more in control than I was after the swim part.
Run
  • 49m 39s
  • 5 miles
  • 09m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

My legs felt pretty strong during the run although I still had to walk across water stations. I think I could have gone a bit harder during the run but I did not want to push myself. I think I need to get a better running outfit. The shirt that I had soaked up too much water and made me feel weighted down.
What would you do differently?:

Push myself a bit harder and not walk across water stations.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around a bit and drink water. Soak in the atmosphere.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Myself actually. I am starting to establish psychological time barriers such as 2:00minute per 100 meters, 20mph speed on bike and 10min/mile runs. I feel I have to break these barriers for next year. Next year I hope to be at least 10-15% better on all legs.

Event comments:

Overall I did pretty good
