Pre-race routine:

Walked to start, chatted to the few people I recognised, felt nervous.

Comments:

Started off a bit fast through nervousness, fell back reasonably quickly and then settled into steady pace. Felt reasonably comfortable for most of race (given it was race) so surprised by how hard heart was working. Paced about right as had nothing left for sprint but just held on to prevent being overtaken by woman who had been just behind me for most of the race. Relieved not to be last!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing! It was good to be out running again.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched a little and walked around, chatted to a few people. Jogged part of the way back to the sports centre.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Enforced break due to injury and carrying about 10kg additional weight.

Event comments:

Good race. Better time than I had expected, and good to be back with other club members.
