Subject: RE: San Bernardino Tin Man 6/28I did this race last year as my first tri. A few pearls: Temps last year were HOT, as in pushing 90F by the start of the race. Hydrate well and stay in the shade as much as possible before the start so you don't burn out on the 5k. There is one fairly significant hill near the beginning of the bike portion- you may want to drive it, or even ride it, beforehand so you know what to expect. Don't worry about the swim. It's only 100m. My advice would be to go all out on the run and bike, since you'll only be in the water for a couple minutes (or less). Last year, it was so freakin hot by the time I got in the pool, I was just glad to cool off. This was a very fun and well organized race, great for 1st timers. Good mix of seasoned triathlon vets and newbies. Well supported, friendly volunteers. I might do it again, but I still have nightmares of that 5k. Have fun! |
