Has anyone done this tri before, or planning on doing it this summer?

Tell me everthing that you know.  Thanks.

Today I watched the first in the series.  Did you race today? How did you do?  I am signed up for the Aug 22nd race.  Now I think I will sign up for the July race also.  It seems like a great beginner race.  Too bad it was chilly, but no rain.Undecided

BT is a great place to ask questions.  Everyone is very helpful.

This is what I saw when I watched the June 20th race.

About 150 people.
3 people w/o wetsuits. 1 with neoprene suit, everyone else with tri wetsuit.  (I'll be renting mine
3 mb, all others road or tri.  (I'll be on my hybrid, but I'm switching out the tires this week)
1st person out of the water at about 15 min, last at 30 min. (Swimming is my weakess, I felt a little more comforted know that not everyone is a super swimmer)

I talked to several people watching and where planning on the July race being their first ever.  I hope to see you there.  Good Luck!

How dire is it to have a wetsuit for this event or in general for Tri's in Washington?

My understanding is that American Lake is around 60 degrees.  Fleet Feet in Bonney Lake has wetsuits if you were thinking about renting.

American lake, Even in the inlet (where the swim is) stays fairly chilly year round. I rowed on that lake for 4 years in college and having been on that water from about sept - Novemeber and Feb - June not to mention random swimming and boating in the summer. Anyone should be ok to swim a sprint distance in it sans wetsuit but I would probably recommend one for comfort, not to mention that the lake can get pretty gross at times.

I just signed up for this one as a practice run before the Lake Stevens 70.3 next month. My wetsuit is in the mail but won't be here in time for the weekend race...so I will be one of the non wetsuit racers.
