Subject: Deviated Septum and narrow nasal passages..
So i have a deviated septum, Narrow nasal passage and a flat nose...  i've been breathing out mainly out of my mouth for as long as i can remember.  I have surgery on monday to correct my nose and was wondering if anyone else had this done?  it's called a Septo Plasti and a Turbinate Stripping.  Has anyone else had this proceedure done?  How long till i can train?  and will this really make a difference in clearing my nose?  Thanks in advance.

I too have a deviated septum and usually breathe out of mouth. I can't speak to the particular procedure you are having done, but a friend of mine had her septum re-alligned and she were out of commission for like two+ months and her face looked pretty bad for a while (really bad black eyes). After that I figured Iwould just deal with the deviated septum.

Sorry I don't have much good news, but I am just one person relying on one other person's experience (and it might not even be the same procedure). I would speak with your doctor as far as recovery times.

the doctor told me no working out for 2 weeks?????  they also told me to take 2 weeks off of work?  i was expecting to have the surgery and be back at work the next day just because i have so many things going on....  other than that, i would've loved to have some time off.  I'm sure i'll get the full breifing on monday.  I'll let you know if it's worth it or not.

I had surgery in 1992- can't recall the exact procedure but it involved a deviated septum and bone in the sinus cavity that basically was roto rootered out. Still considered "routine" I ended up having complications and profuse bleeding out of surgery. I stayed in hospital for a number of days. Healing for me was slow- but I suppose it was "on schedule"....and it was well worth it! My sinuses have been clear and open since then. Don't rush the recovery.

Well ihad the surgery done 6 days ago and was suffering for the first 3 days.  Not due to pain but because there was so much gause and crap packed in my nose.  They finally pulled it all out and i was amazed at all the stuff the packed in there.  the bleeding finally stopped but I'm still breathing out of my mouth because the swelling hasn't gone completely down.  I'm going crazy because i havent worked out in 6 days...  ii'm going to run and swim tomorrow just to keep my sanity.  I hope this was worth it..

I had this surgery back in January. It was the best thing I have done in a long time. I never really knew what it meant to truly breath clearly. You will love the results!!!!

I too am looking at this sometime in the near future. One of my friends did it during the spring. He is in his mid 60s. The final result was excellent but he said to expect the time to regain full lifestyle to be about twice what the doctor says. With good planning, I just may be able to ensure Christmas home with the family.
