does anyone have a fuji road bike? the tri bikes are way too expensive for me at the moment, and i'm wondering how well the fuji road bike will translate into a semi-tri bike w/aero bars, regarding comfort, ects.

I looked at fuji bikes before I bought a road bike. I ended up getting a Motobecane Vent Noir. My bike is 7005 aluminum with Tiagra and 105 components. My crank is Truvativ. The reason I went with Tiagra was because with Sora shifters you have to shift down with a thumb button instead of the fingers like Tiagra-->Durace. I am happy with my road bike, but in some ways wish I would have waited to get a tri specific bike. I think I will always be wanting the next level of bike no matter what I have, so I have just decided to ride what I have until I am good enough to say that my bike is limiting further progression. Plus, it is always fun passing those people with more expensive bikes.

I would say that the main thing you are looking for in a bike brand is the frame geometry and materials. Everything else is components(which you can compare independantly), the paint and the quality of weld(I doubt if too many of us are going to stress our frames to the point that the welds will break).

I don't know what your budget is, but have you thougt of looking at 1/2 year old used bikes? You can get what you are looking for new or better for the same price.

Good luck in your search.

I have also seen a lot of people recommend checking out local shops for older models (i.e. 2002 bike) that they haven't sold yet. My local shop had a 2002 model marked down from $1200 to $800.

what's your price range? Fuji makes a $500 road bike and a $3000 road bike.

I was checking out ebay this weekend and found a brand new Felt F75 for $400 (retails ~800). It was last year's model and it was there last bike and wanted to get rid of it. There were tons of used bikes at just about any price.

I searched under road bikes and did a search on triathlon. The tri bikes were a little much. An interesting thing the guy at the local shop said was that used tri bikes were generally in much worse shape than used road bikes because the cyclers tended to take better care of their bikes.
