Subject: Timing Chip company claims they didn't get my chip backHave any of you ever experienced a timing chip company sending you an email claiming they didn't get your timing chip back? I got an email asking me to send it back or send them $30. I do not have the referenced timing chip. I completed the race, and the volunteers took the strap off and put it in the bucket. I called the race director to ask him if he knew what options I have, and he said this was the first he had heard of it and said it was between me and them. What options do I have? Have any of you had this experience, and what was the outcome? How do I know they really don't have it or that someone on their side didn't lose it? In theory they could claim this all the time to get people to send them money. I doubt that is the case, but it crossed my mind. I am really opposed to paying for a chip I handled properly and returned. I never wanted my own chip as I didn't want to keep up with it. Now it looks like I have to pay for one I don't even have. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |
