Sounds good to me, I just moved to Lindenhurst, so I'm not sure where to swim. I'm available after 6 most weekdays and weekend mornings. Also need someone to bike with.

i'm game, but i'm limited to a morning on the weekend.  i'm itching to get out though.  have my first ows race of the year coming up, and i just got my first tri wetsuit that i want to try out/break in.

I don't know anywhere on the south shore to go.  I was up at Hempstead Harbor park in Port Wash this past weekend (site of the LI Gold Coast sprint next week) and think we can get it done there.  i've heard people do swim there on their own, but I didn't see anyone that day -- there was a very big storm the night before that might have kept them away.

Jac... I'm in Amity Harbor near tanner park. Could always swim there. Between to the two fishing piers.  With no one fishing of course. I was also told that members from TRE  ( team runners edge) meet at Tobay marina. Shoot me an email in you want to get some training swims and rides in     ..........Steve

Port Washington is too far from me. As far as the North Shore nothing beats Sunken Meadow Park. The water always seems to be calm and you can some good swims in there.

anything on the south shore is better for me.  Tobay would be great.  if you ever plan to go out to those spots on the weekend, i would meet up.  if you do, post something here or send a pm.

Hi all,
I am south shore as well.  My friend and I just started tris last summer and would like to get some OWS in before the jellyfish arrive!!LOL  I have never done an OWS at TOBAY.  Do they swim on the bayside or the ocean?  I would be up for that, or even Tanner Park if I had to.

Jackie -- I'm doing Gold Coast.

Even though it is a hike for me, I was going to find out if others were swimming this weekend at Sunken Meadow, and head up there if I was sure there will be others there.  I'll let you know what I find out.

If you are definitely up for a swim this weekend, we can try to meet somewhere closer than Sunken Meadow:

--Tobay, if you know where to go.  I am familiar with the bay side and live just a few minutes from there, I just don't know where good swimming spots are and I would think the place is overrun with boats.  Maybe I can get some info about that today too.

--Hempstead Beach in Port Wash, which as you know is the site of the Gold Coast Race.  It's a little further away and on the north shore, but its not that far, for this one I know where to go, and it would be good to get familiar with the race site (drift/current/water temp/sighting etc).

what do you think??  i say let's make this happen!!

What about this evening around six, after the lifeguards. The problem this season with Sunken Meadow is there enforcing a swim zone. P.S  the jelly fish are out !

Jackie- you are not far from me.  We could hook up to bike some time.  I am usually on my own, or with one other friend.  This week I started doing a couple rides with some people from aquafit.  I need to start doing longer rides but am a little skittish on the roads with a lot of traffic ( although I am getting better..)  I like to head to Cedar Creek and do a couple loops to the beach and back and around the park.
