Subject: RE: Oh excited one! Freshman 15? Heh, that didn't get me, it was the 'post-graduation-sit-in-front-of-a-computer-for-next-6-years-45-lbs' that got me.
I lost most of it ( and got back into decent shape ) doing a semi-modified atkins. I didn't cut carbs nearly as drastically as
Atkins, but I did reduce them, while upping my protein intake. Not very scientificly mind you, but it worked for me.
As I'm training for my first Tri ( July! ) I've added back in carbs and am not worried at all about weight ( my weight is actually
not changing but I'm continuing to build lean muscle as my bodyfat is dropping and my body is continuing to develop the way I want it to ). If you're training for a Tri you shouldn't have to worry too much about dieting, other than to make sure you getting enough of the right stuff. Most of the diets Atkins/SoBe, etc. seem to be geared towards a more sedentary lifestyle, IMHO than your typical Tri athlete.
YMMV, I'm not a licensed ( or any type ) of sports nutritionist, so best to ask one if you're really concerned.
