Metroman in Asbury Park- this will be my first time doing it. Anyone raced it before? What did you think? Anybody racing it this year?

didn't do it last year - it turned into a du due to ocean conditions.  i heard there were some gliches but this year Sandyhookers and Doug Rice are helping so there should be smoother sailing.  I would expect it to be pretty tight and a good race.

I am considering it as well. I believe they changed the bike and run course this year, as last year it was a short loop repeated a number of times (which was awful, apparently). 6:30am start is REALLY early though!

in the busy shore towns, the start is usu early to try to get the bikes off the road before shore goer traffic picks up.  it's not really that much earlier tho - u always have to get up some godawful hour to get to these things w/ enuff time for set up and practice spin in water.

Im in for the oly. There should be a pretty good amount because of the dash for cash the top 15 men and women get a chance to win some money.

Overall I had a lot of fun.  Water was cold, and I had difficulty w the waves/current when compared to a bay swim or lake swim, but that is to be expected.

Bike course was flat, but with a lot of turns and sidestreet explorations.

Run was fun on the boardwalk - the finish area was cool.

I thought Sunset racing did a great job.  I finished sprint in 1:23, swim @ 23 mins killed me, PR on the run with a 5K in 22:23.

Just a question (I didnt race). Was the International Distance race run a 10k? the times seem incredibly fast.

The race was listed as a 10k for the International Distance, but when measured I found it only 5.05. So that would explain the faster times.

I thought it was a well run race by Sunset Racing. Swim was a good challenge with the swells. Also found it to be chillly. I got stung on the foot by something during my warmup swim (it seemed far too cold for jellies but who knows!) Lots of volunteers out on the bike made it nice and clear where we were going on the first loop. Boardwalk run was pretty and interesting too. First time I've ever done a race past a religious service (anyone else notice that?)- not sure that happens too often I guess!

I didn't stick around to watch the "Dash for Cash". How did that go?

yea, i saw the service as well, pretty cool.  boardwalk run was fun, but you had to watch out for the people walking around, taking pictures, basically not paying attention to the hundreds of runners going back and forth.

running through the inside of the old Asbury Pk Casino was cool, again needing to avoid the people walking, strollers, etc.

dash for cash was cool - i think it was shorter then the sprint - remember seeing the first guy out of water a good minute+ ahead of the second guy.

you should have seen him leave T2 - he was like a deer - running so fast, holy cr*p.

Does anyone know the company that was taking race pics?  I dont think it was USCandids, I'd like to see them ... ???!!!

it turned out to be a nice beach day as well.
