They've been going for 9 hours now. It's really irritating. They stopped, briefly, around noon, then came back.

Really, really irritating!!

That is all.

9 hours would put me over the edge. 10 min of hiccups and I'm downright angry. Hope you get some relief!

Poor pookie! You've tried all the tips and tricks?

I have chronic lifelong hiccups, but it's not too bad as it's just one every few min or so; sometimes I get a spate of them a few seconds apart (like most people when they get them) but it doesn't last more than a few minutes.

I just watched an interview a couple weeks ago of a lady that has had them for 20 years?

Eek!

I managed to get rid of them for almost 20 hours, then they came back about 3 hours ago.

Yah, I've tried a couple of different "remedies". One felt like the descriptions of water-boarding that I've read, so that one is not being used a second time. If I can just get to sleep again, they should let up. This has lead to me researching the origins of hiccups and theories behind their "purpose" (other than keeping me awake!). Who knew that the hiccup reflex develops in babies before regular lung function reflexes? I never would have guessed.

Not that it does me much good; they're back and more frequent than yesterday. So Damn Irritating!

Uhh, Ms. Yanti, "Pookie"?

Uhh, Mr. Kilty Well, I felt sorry for you? Hiccups do always remind me of babies and dogs. Not sure why. (I perpetually remind myself of babies and dogs?)

Glad you at least got some respite and hope they go away soon for good.

I just don't recall ever having been referred to as "Pookie". Considering the source, I'm ok with it, it was just a slight excession.

And thank you. I think I finally got rid of them. A friend mentioned trying to stretch the diaphragm with deep breathing, and it seems to have worked. So far.

Wait. That isn't the FIRST thing you did?

Ummmm...was I supposed to?

I'd never heard of that "cure" before, so I didn't know to try it until told about it last night. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle...sorry, flashback to 1987 for a second there.

 I still hate hiccups.
