Subject: RE: Air attack shield or Rudy wingspansmallard - 2013-04-26 8:17 AM Check the Kona bike count. Rudy rules!
http://lavamagazine.com/features/the-2012-kona-bike-count/#axzz2RY0AGGaW Well, that was last year. AFAIK Giro AA was only available to pros at that time. For what I understand one of the objectives of Giro was to design a helmet that would be legal in all races, the typical aero helmet being legal only in TT and triathlon with no-drafting. The data even show that the AA is not as aero as the Giro Selector, check here: http://www.bicycling.com/bikes-gear/new-bike-gear-previews/giro-unveils-air-attack?page=0,1 So, if only straight on aero matters, the AA is not the best choice available. But it's lighter and should have a better cooling which may be well worth considering for hot races and it's more aero in cross winds too. Haven't tried any of the above helmets though, but I go for the AA without much thought. BR |
