This is one of the most bazaar and narcissistic stories I've read in a long time. McCain is showing he is political to the end....and ever after he is dead. The idea of planning your own funeral, deciding who gets to deliver the eulogy (he want Obama - no big surprise for a RINO) and deciding who you want to be there and who you don't want to be there (Trump), aside from being a bit morbid, drips with arrogance.

I figure after I die, I will be beyond caring about politics and who I did and did not like and who did and did not like me.

McCain's legacy will be that he lost a very winnable election to Obama in 2008 leaving the country to have to deal with 8 years of socialists ideology and government overreach.

Maybe AZ will replace him with a (real) republican.

I have long said that he is moron. At 81 and in failing health, has refused to retire/retire and spend his golden years with his family. Evidently he hold himself in such high regard that he believes no one else in AZ could represent the people on AZ in Washington better than he can. I see this same sort of arrogance at work quite often as people continue to work 40 hrs a week right up until they die or are so frail and sickly they cannot do anything.

I am probably projecting my ideals and value on others....I guess some people get a great sense of self-worth from their jobs. My priorities are my wife, my children and the rest of my family. My work is waaay down on my list of priorities. I like the analogy of putting your hand in a bucket of water. When you remove your hand, there is no hole. Likewise, when I leave my position at work, there will be no hole, no inability to accomplish the mission now that the Great Rogillio has gone.

I've had elderly family members put some plans down for their funeral. For a guy like this, he may not want his funeral to have a negative impact on his legacy or for people to use his death as an opportunity for self-advancement. My great-grandmother picked out the music and the booze, and pre-paid for it all. She wanted to make sure we celebrated her life rather than sulking in not having her with us any more.

McCain is known for holding grudges and this just looks like a final insult to Trump. He also threw Palin under the bus saying he regrets picking her as his running make with the implication that it was because of her that he lost. No John, it was YOU. People vote for POTUS not for VPOTUS! You chose Palin because she was a woman and thought that would secure the female vote. You were wrong and you lost on your ploy. But it doesn't matter who you picked, you lost because of YOU.

He definitely lost it himself. Tons of unanswered questions and material on obama. He goes with Joe the Plumber. I think Palin was brought in to try and sell the 'mavericky' image. He certainly couldn't sell it himself.

Knowing what I know now, the funeral thing has nothing to do with my feelings here, I would have stayed home election day. The GOP needed to get a landslide, a really really big landslide jammed up their butts for shoving this candidate up OUR butts.

Trump needs to send McCain a tweet quoting Mark Twain, "I am not invited to the funeral, but I approve of it nevertheless.”

agree.  I was a big supporter of his back in the day and it was primarily because of his military service and a belief that he stood for what I did.  As time has gone by he has been exposed for what he truly is, which is a globalist sellout.  He does not want what's best for America, he wants what's best for powerful entities that have paid him a lot of money.

I too supported him back in 2008. I think he does himself a huge disservice by saying he doesn't want Trump to attend his funeral and 'regretting' Palin. I think people who hold resentment and bitterness against people never really find peace. Most people think when you forgive someone you are doing them a favor but actually you are doing yourself a favor. By letting it go you don't have to carry all that baggage around. By saying he did not want Trump at his funeral he just made himself look small and petty. Likewise, by saying he regretted Palin, he is implying that she was the reason for his loss....and again, he diminishes himself in doing so.

To be fair, I suspect the pain and the drugs and the brain cancer have taken their toll and he is not in his right mind.

Good point, we probably should cut him a little slack for that.

The guy is dying. Soon it will be a moot point. Not a fan of McCain, but we should not lose sight that due to medical reasons, his judgment of late is potentially being impacted.

What about his judgement over the last number of years?  People die and, admittedly, I'm pretty calloused toward it after seeing so much of it over the years. But,  you don't get slack for it in my mind, and some people (not McCain) just deserve it for being stupid.

I wouldnt want to venture a guess on how many dead people Ive seen who's only stake in their demise was their own stupidity......and for your second point....we are an endangered species IMO...one day the earth will rid itself of us. LOL
