....I showed up in boots and ruined your black tie affair.

So Pocahontas is touting that her DNA test 'proves' she is Native American, albeit only .09 to 3 percent Native American. Hmmm, I think I probably am more NA than that. I remember my dad saying one time that his great (or great-great) grandmother was a Chickasaw.

I just chuckle reading about this. Who cares?! Warren identified herself as a 'minority' while teaching until she became tenured. OK, she is not the first person to fudge a resume! And maybe she honestly thought she was more NA than she really is because of her high cheekbones.

I claim to roughly 1/2 Italian and 1/2 Spanish but that is BS. I trace my last name back 7 generations to Policarpo Rogillio who was born in Lezua Albrete, Spain on 26 Jan 1762, came to America in 1780s and died in Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, 20 Aug 1832. My grandfather was born in Italy and came thru Ellis Island about 1907 at the age of 12 or so.

But to be 1/2 Spanish, every Rogillio since Policarpo would have had to marry a Spaniard.....which I know did not happen. My grandmother's maiden name was Denson and I can trace that back to the 1600s in Ireland.

But who cares!? I mean it's kind of fun tracing your heritage but really, if you go back 7 generations you have 128 'contributors' to your heritage!

So to wrap this ramble up....I can see where Warren might think she more NA than she is if for no other reason than her high cheekbone. I have a Mediterranean completion and dark brown, almost black hair....uh....well it used to anyway. So I figure 1/2 Italian and 1/2 Spanish is 'close enough'. I think I will just call myself 100% American.

Who cares? Just for debate sake...maybe the guy who lost his position at Harvard because she was in a protected class being NA.

To be fair, my company lists me as “protected veteran” but, while I served 11 years in the Army NG and Army Reserves, that does not qualify as a protected veteran per the law. I just listed my service and some idiot in HR who obviously did not know the law flagged me as a protected vet. Maybe the same thing happened to her. Willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

She's got less Indian heritage than what shows up for the average American.  LOL

Craziness.

I agree, who cares.....but the comedy of it is too much to pass up.

I think these people should probably have the last word.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cherokee-nation-responds-to-senator-warren-says-dna-test-useless-to-determine-tribal-citizenship

If you don't care to read it......you can just use this quote by the Cherokee Nation Secretary of State:

"Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong"

The scholarships should be used by people that identify with a particular tribe, belong to a tribe and participate in tribal activities.

My kids legally qualify as NA for college entrance, scholarships, etc. Since we do not participate in tribal activities, I couldn't in good conscience allow them to apply for such scholarships. It's a matter of integrity. Sen. Warren displays an amazing lack of character by using the NA community to get what she wanted. I think that's the point that needs to be recognized.

I agree. Harvard used her as their token NA minority too and they should be ashamed as well.

BTW, you are a man of integrity I don't care what Hal says.

Yep, true enough.  I also expressed the "who cares" and I apologize.  Admittedly, I'm not very astute when it comes to NA affairs and issues.

However, having practiced being an idiot on occasion......I absolutely know one of those when I see one.....and Warren should just put her hand up and admit she's stupid.
