Damn it. I was bidding for a piel wetsuit on Ebay and lost it. It went for 103 dollars and was in pretty good shape. In the last minute the bids jumped 20 dollars. I would have went higher but I probably could not wear that suit till the end of the season because I would have needed to lose more weight. I will Tri again when I see one.

Haven't heard of that suilt -- piel? I know what you mean about losing at the last few minutes -- I lost a great looking swim backpack the other day.  bummer.

So, where would one look for this suit? I have not seen it on any "wetsuit" sites I've visited, nor in the triathlon shop nearby?

Sounds like you got "sniped" which is very common among veteran eBay bidders...myself included. Do a Goggle for "snipe ebay" to see what the results yield. Here is a good website/program for sniping: http://www.auctionsniper.com/

Meanwhile, I have never promoted the idea of buying something you cannot yet wear. As a rule of thumb, it you are buying any type of clothing, you should buy something that fits you now. You can always buy something later as you trim down to your ideal fighting weight. But the idea of buying something that doesn't fit because it is on "sale", will only cost you in the end. As my father always used to say, "The good deals will always be there, even after we are dead and buried."

Meanwhile, I think the name "Piel" is very unique. While it means "skin" in Spanish, is the idea that you can "peel" this "skin" off quickly? Very clever marketing if you ask me.

I had a friend who used one 2 years ago. The sales rep let her borrow it for a few months. She was not impressed with it enough to buy it at the end of her trial, but I sure was. As I struggled to get out of my QR, she yanked a zipper and was on her way. I don't remember which brand she preferred. I'll ask next time we chat.

The thing is that if i bought a suit that fits me right now. I would probably not fit in it the day of my first race because of how quick the weight is coming off. I rather take the risk that I am too big for it this year and have to wait for next year than it being to big for me to even use it.Unfortunately right now a used suit is all that is in my budget.

The two places I know about near me allow you the rental fee as credit toward buying a wet suit from them. I don't know if there is a timeline, but would imagine so (like 30 days or something. Sometimes I think renting might be a better idea that buying except for the time it takes to pick it up and return it.
