For past couple years as I started taking weight loss seriously, I dropped the yoke and have been habitually using only whites in my diet. That's where my 4g of protien sits and that's all that's really beneficial from the egg, right? I can see using some of the yoke for flavor or some fat, but isn't is high in cholestoral? Ill take a spoon of PB instead. What's your opinion?

Try this one on for size;

We are all different. What works for you may not for me. Unless you have blood tests before, during, and after whole egg consumption for x amont of time or you have an allergic reaction, you will never now.

Everything in moderation. Harvard did a study that stated 1 egg a day is doable for the majority; 3/4 of the population. They found that by using the whole egg, HDL levels actually increased is some of the test subjects. Plus it holds half of the egg protein

As for  me, I have a one egg plus 3 white omelet 2x a week.

I am actually "surfing" when I should be writing....and eggs just happen to be the research topic of mine this moment!  BTW-I am a graduate student in holistic nutrition.  According to the Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating, "No research has ever shown that people who eat more eggs have more heart attacks than people who eat few eggs."  People vary widely in their response to dietary cholesterol, and the effects of eggs on your health can't be predicted by the amount of cholesterol they contain.  If you are worried eat your eggs poached-- the less you expose the yolk to oxygen, the less the cholesterol gets oxidized.  Eggs are a perfect source of protein, containing all nine essential amino acids and they are packed full of excellent nutrients and vitamins.  In one study published in Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers and Prevention, in January 2005, it showed that women who ate six eggs per week vs. two eggs per week lowered their risk of breast cancer by 44 percent.  I could go on all day.....but should get back to my paper on eggs.  Good Eats!

most people are afraid of eggs due to the old and largely still accepted dogma of 'eating fat makes you fat' and 'eating cholesterol will give you high cholesterol'. To much research shows this is not the case.

US had an obesity explosion when the low fat crazy hit. The snackwells period I call it.

I went on a low fat diet and lost 30lbs and before during and after my cholesterol was so bad that I was on every statin and similar med out there in high doses with minimal effects. I did low cabr for 1 month and my numbers were then in the excellent.

I eat 2 whole eggs every single day and my bloodwork is amazing.

As I always say, our genetics are all different. What I refer to as carb tolerance varies greatly from person to person.

Ick, I can't do JUST the whites. I have to have at least part of a yolk in there. All-whites taste/feel like snot to me. I need the fat to hold it together a little bit and give it some flavor. For the amount that I eat eggs, I figure it's not a big deal.

I also sometimes buy the eggbeaters - tastes like eggs with yolks but less fat.

I got in the habit of egg whites when doing Weight Watchers because of the way they calculate points.  One whole egg was 2 points but three egg whites were 1 point.  No health reason other than I wanted to not "waste" points.  Now I'm not doing Weight Watchers anymore, but the habit is still there.  When I cook for a big group, sometimes I'll throw in a 2 egg white to one whole egg ratio so people get the yellow color they want.  Other than that I do egg whites or egg beaters for cooking.  The only time I do whole eggs is in my tuna salad.

I think moderation is the key.  While I remove a yolk or two when making an omelet, I always include some yolk.  Plain whites is just gross to me.  Although my daughter loves fried egg whites.  She hates the yolk.

If you go plain whites, try throwing a bunch of veggies in there....especially some that pack some good flavor, like red peppers & onions.  I saute the veggies for a few mins first, then add the eggs in.  You're less likely to notice the blandness of whites only.  Or, add some fresh salsa to the whites, helps a ton!

Most commonly I do 1 whole egg + 4 more whites...need that many to push me closer to the protein levels I want at each meal.  Even a half a yolk can do a lot!  Check out the nutrient differences for Omega 3 eggs.

I always use egg whites boiled. First, I like them a lot, much more than the yoke and I can add the best fats I want together with the whites (eventually). PB is great for example or olive oil.

The big advantage of whites is that they contain a high quantity of BCAA. I think that only lentils are better in terms of BCAA. The whites are cheaper than a box of BCAA at the store for sure.

Basically it is one of the best food for recovery or for dinner.

We do eggwhites every morning..for the most part..and I was getting so sick of my three egg whites w/a side of fruit...even tossing in a slice of cheese wasn't enticing anymore..so I took a bunch of egg whites, maybe 10 or so eggs....I sauteed some spinach with a little olive oil, salt & pepper...put together in a small pyrex...took a few slices of 2 % cheese and baked it for like 8 minutes...got good reviews & it didn't taste bland or have that "snot" consistency.  I make this when the bfast menu starts to bore us....

The only time I eat just egg whites, is if it's a hard-boiled egg. I'll eat the white, and toss the yolk. I'll usually have about 2 hard-boiled egg whites per day. But for regular scrambled-type eggs...I use the whole egg. I limit eating whole eggs to about 1x per week...sometimes less.

LIke Kimmi - I started eating the egg whites due to WW.  I prefer them and order only eg whites for my omlettes out, or I make my homemade breakfasts with only egg whites.

LOVE them!
