Subject: I want to be 5 again
I was away from my house at about 9 PM when my wife calls me on my cell phone freaked out. I finally get out of her that someone was trying to get into our back yard and our dog (black lab/chow mutt) was going crazy.

So, I rush home in about 10 minutes and the cops aren't around yet. While I'm trying to figure out what is going on, I notice my 5 year old changing his PJs. At first I thought he was just getting on his PJs but realized that he was changing from one pair to his Incredibles PJs.

As soon as he got them on, he was darting out of the front door. I stopped him while he was unlocking the door and asked where he was going. He replied "I'm going get that guy who was in our yard". Of which I replied that he needed to stay inside and had to physically keep him from going out.

After I calmed him down, I realized that he changed into his "super" suit and was going to make sure there was one less bad guy in this world. Oh, what I'd give to be 5 again.

The cops did find the guy that was in our yard, but had nothing on him and just talked to him for about 20 minutes. In talking to my wife and neighbors across the street (who can see our entire front yard), I think this guy was hiding from someone and was inbetween our house and next-door neighbor's house. He didn't appear to be digging in anything, but was hiding in the bushes. I checked them and there was nothing.

Get him to like Popeye so that he'll have to eat a can of spinach before going out next time...

Your son sounds adorable! Sigh... I really need to get one of those supersuits, too. And yes, I really am a 5 year old at heart.

Aaahhh, youthful innocence.  Doesn't suck to have grow up and lose that feeling that we can just put on our "super" suit and rid the world of the bad things in it.

Also, make sure you give that good puppy dog a bone for doing his job!

Now, my question is, what was this guy thinking entering a yard with a lab/chow mix in it.  My wife is kind of paranoid about the doors always being locked and sometimes I will forget to lock the back door.  I always tell her there is no way anyone is ever coming through that back door because we have a 80 lb retriever/rotty/chow something mix back there that looks mean as all get out and is very protective of the family.

glad ya'll okay.  good puppy.  GOOD puppy!

do ya'll have a "Beware of Dog" sign?  my hubby insisted we get one- he's so paranoid of lawsuits.   He heard of a robber who sued after being attacked by a dog, for pete's sake!  We have two rotty/German shep mixed dogs.  I love 'em.  My friend from work came over to drop off something while I was out and was too scared to even get out of her car to come to the door and leave the package at the door.....

***sigh****  I miss that innocent feeling.  Good kid too....

I have a buddy who has a sign that states:

"Don't worry about the dog, beware of owner"  Then there is a picture of a gun.  Yeah, I live in Texas.

I've seen:

(pic of dog) "I can make it to the fence in two seconds.  Can you?"

:-)

that's my babies!!   Did I mention she can let herself out by opening the back door?

And I bet they are two of the sweetest puppy's in the world.  My 80 lb retriever/rotty/pittbull/chow or who knows what mix looks quite menacing.  If anyone gets near the backyard, she gets right up next to fence and has the most ferocious sounding bark and runs up and down the fence.  For all I know, if someone came over the fence she would run up and start licking their face, but I would hate to be the one who tested that out.

The guy never made it into the yard. I really don't think he was trying to. It is real dark between my house and my next door neighbor's and I think the guy was hiding from somebody.

My wife said she never heard the dog bark like that, ever and he is 8 years old. He sounded ferocious. I'm sure he is very intimidating, but when I bring strangers in the back yard, he hides in a corner and is real caucious. He is about 75 lbs and looks Black Lab, but I know he also has some brothers and sisters that definately have alot of Chow in them.

This actually happened last Thursday night and has been quiet since. I've been keeping an eye out and everything has been calm.

That reminds me of the time my daughter jumped out her bedroom window (second floor!) trying to fly like Buzz Lightyear. She was three. Thank God she only broke her arm!

Glad to know your family was safe. It's scary to think someone can possibly get that close.
