On Tuesday, the United States Senate voted to demand regular reports from the White House on the progress toward troop pullout in Iraq. This plan, which passed 79-19, will also require Iraqis to take the lead in providing security for themselves next year to plan for a US pullout.

What is most striking in that statement is the vote count. 79-19. That's a lot of Republicans wanting answers from the President.

I don't understand why we have so many political threads.

I can only brag about how the SouthWest will win December's Swim Challenge so much. After that, I gotta move back to politics, pissing the Bear off, religion, sex, drugs, and rock n' roll (not in that order).

They said something on CBS news last night about how this is the first time the Senate has attempted to "rein in the President".  That sentence just cracked me up for some reason - glad to see that they realized he running amuk and needs to be reined in!

Yeah, I try to keep out of controversial topics.

Texas is gonna clean house in the swim challenge... hands down. Game over, man. Nothing else matters or is debate-worthy.

This is poll worthy, I'm just too lazy to lookup the team names and make the poll. You guys lost the last two challenges from what I hear. As a rookie to these challenges, I know i can make an immediate impact. After all, I was highly recruited and I am making the league minimum. I really don't see how Texas can compete. It's alot like the upcoming BCS championship game.

Brett... are you even on the Texas Team? I must have missed where you declared your participation...

I'm withholding my entry until the last minute so I can get better odds. Right now the line-makers in Vegas have the Texas team at 4 - 1. Once I become a member of the team I know it won't be any worse than 3 - 2 and that's hardly even worth putting money on the line.

AND the moderate Republicans pulled the plug on drilling in the Alaskan wildlife refuge by saying they'd tank the budget unless that piece was culled out. I knew there are principled Republicans--I work with some. Just never seem to see 'em in Washington.

I wanna do the swim challenge, must look it up. My life is interfering with my regular attendance to BT threads, apparently--appalling.

I gotta say... I'm not down with Democrats demanding we pull our troops out now. 1) We don't need 2 quarterbacks on this field (or a committee of quarterbacks) and 2) we shouldn't leave until the game is over. Not to trivialize the war with a foolsball metaphor...

Couldn't agree more - except for the foolsball part...
