I just saw where Sen Sessions made it out of committee. So if when he is approved by the full senate and sworn in as AG the GOP loises that vote until AL appoints a new one right? So if a vote is 50/50 like for Sec of Ed and we lose Sessions.....

Just asking. No idea how this would work.

Even at 50-50, veep still holds the tiebreaker, so not really a problem unless there's a republican breaking ranks.

I understand that. But if it is 50/50 and we lose Sessions, then it's 49/50. There are at least 2 republicans who said they would not support the Sec of Ed.

Sounds to me like there may need to be another nominee for Sec of Ed.

I only saw part of the questioning of her and it was not good. "Did you attend public schools?" No. Did your children? No. Have you worked in public schools? No.

Geesh, that would be like electing a president who has no executive experience other than 'community organizer'.

I'd say it depends on the state, but I'd guess his replacement has already been identified by the governor of the state and will be appointed the moment he officially resigns.
It's not uncommon for Governors to appoint themselves as the replacement if they're nearing the end of a term.

I recall that the democrats try to sell the seat to the highest bidder, at least that was what happened when bho vacated a hole in illinois. Not sure how it works for Republicans. They'll probably take some legal route to ensure it is handled properly.

Forgot about that.  Good ole Blagojevich.

I recall reading that he was trying to get an Obama pardon on the way out because he's still in jail.

Sessions is from Alabama, isn't the gov (Bentley) involved in some sort of sex scandal? Might be a good ticket out of town to take Sessions seat.
