If you'd like to try kettlebells but don't want to spend the money and the cast kettlebells, these are the way to go. They work with standard weight plates. I currently have quite a collection of cast kettlebells and don't need these anymore.

You can read more about the Kettlestack here:

http://www.kettlestack.com/

The ones I have are the "blue steel heavy duty" model. I've loaded over 100 lbs. on one handle and it held up fine. I have two of these available. Asking $40 + $5 shipping for one handle. If you'd like to buy both, I'll consider a discount. I take Pay Pal, and actually prefer payment by Pay Pal. PM if interested.

I'm interested!  what exactly are you selling, ie, how many stacks, and what are the weight increments?  I would probably take both....

Possum - It's just the handle along with the axle and bolts. Each handle comes with four bolts - two shorter ones and two longer ones for when you start loading plates on the outside of the two supports. You'll need to supply your own "standard" weight plates. "Standard" means the plates have the smaller diameter hole as opposed to Olympic plates with the larger diameter. I'd be happy to throw in a few weight plates for cheap but then I'd have to charge more for shipping and it really wouldn't be worth it then. Wal-Mart sells these plates as well as any sporting goods store, and you can get the plates for around $0.50 a pound. How you set these up is up to you. You can go as light as having four 2.5 lb. plates in the middle to 5 10-lb. plates in the middle plus 2 more on each side for a total of 92 lbs. The handle and hardware weigh about 2 lbs. Which brings me to my next point. When you first see these you'll think it looks flimsy, and you'll worry about the plastic handle. But this is solid stuff. I've loaded over 100 lbs. on one handle with a combination of 10 lb. and 25 lb. plates without any problems.

Hope this clarifies things.

One last thing - if you decide to buy both, I'll drop the price to $35 for each handle, so that'll be $70 total, and I'll keep the shipping the same at $5. So that's a total of $75 shipped for both handles. Both handles came with the tempered steel supports or "forks" which is why they can hold over 100 lbs. If you look at the order page here http://www.kettlestack.com/objects/42.itml/icOid/42,the BASE model sells for just under $55, but go to the drop down box and the HIGH model, which is what I have, adds $10 to the cost for a total of $65. So if you decided to get both you'd essentially be getting darn close to a 2-for-1 deal.

"It is like a zoo, but more fun. Because instead of just look at animal, you can shoot it in the head with gun." -Borat

I had not heard this Borat-ism.

Going back to the business at hand, if all you want to do is swings and/or snatches for anaerobic/aerobic conditioning - and believe me, you will be breathing hard after a set of swings - you probably only need one handle. The weights change easily on these with a hex key (also known as an Allen wrench, which is the name I learned for it). The hex key is included.

If you want to do presses, you can probably get by with one handle and do one arm at a time. That's how I've been doing presses lately.

The primary reason that I bought two is because I considered competing in kettlebell competitions. Yes, these really exist, and are fairly popular in Russia. There is a small grassroots thing going on in the U.S., but it's still small. Going to competitions requires plane tickets and hotel reservations, but I have tris right in my own back yard which is one reason, but certainly not the only reason, why I decided to go that route. Anyone, one of the events for men is a jerk with two KBs. I bought the handles thinking I'd load them up with a weight higher than that used in competition and train in that manner. So unless you wanted to do jerks with two KBs (and if for some strange reason you both decided you hated tris and wanted to compete in kettlebell lifting, women don't contest jerks, so you wouldn't need that type of training), you'd only need one handle.

Another reason to get two would be to do kettlebell front squats. Unless you plan to go over 100 lbs. in the front squat, you can get by with one handle. Load up one handle to your desired weight, clean it to one side, and squat. With the weight to one side like that, you'll be working your balance somewhat and your core and oblique muscles. I tried this once with one of my 70 lb. cast KBs and was surprised at how hard this was, and I've front squatted over 200 with a barbell.

Anyway, I'm not saying this to sell one handle to each of you so I can get an extra $5 out of each of you. I'm just hoping to make your decision easier. Let me know if you have any questions.

Kimj81 and Possum,

Let me know if either of you are still interested. Otherwise, I'll list these on ebay. Thanks.

Oh, I'd forgotten about this! Let me look into it some more and get back to you. Probably tonight.

Eh, you know what? Fuk it. I'll just skip those hot-as-hell heels I was drooling over yesterday and buy me some kettlestacks instead. I'll take both (my husband and I CrossFit together). Please email me at kchase20 at hotmail.com and let me know where to send the moola (no BT access at work).
