I know Elroy303 is in... anyone else planning to ride this? I just signed up since I had to drop from the NYC Century. North Fork is one of my favorites, looking forward to it (except for the 4:30 a.m. bus ride from NYC)...

Yes indeed, I'll be there.

My last (and only) century was a bit of a disaster for me, completely running out of steam around mile 70. Bonking with 30 miles to go is a tough lesson in humility learned.

Yesterday was another difficult day for me, being totally outclassed by some training friends of mine on a very quick 50 mile ride.

I'll be interesting to see how the North Fork goes. Providing I keep myself hydrated, well paced and away from the pie I should be alright.

I had a bad crash on my long training ride today so I might be out of this. I'm still in the ER and need an abdominal CT before I can go home. Even though my xrays were clear, they recommended I follow up with an ortho or sports doc for an MRI because I can't lift my left arm/shoulder. I'm thankful it wasn't worse, but the reality is setting in and I'm starting to feel sorry for myself. I'm hoping it all just looks worse than it is and maybe I can get back at it soon.

Holy cow ...

First off, I hope you're ok - and the tests don't show any underlying issues. I've read on your blog how serious you've taken your training (and how much it means it you), so hopefully you'll be back at it in no time.

Dan - You only rode 49.85 miles because you took the short cut under the LIE :-)

Remember - Grab a wheel !

With this event less than a week away, who's scheduled to attend?

I had to drop out because of my fracture, I'm so sad about it. I sold my entry to some guy on bikeforums.net. I hope you all have a great ride, this is such a fun one.

But on the sunny side, you'll have a killer new bike to do it on next year.

(Always need to keep it positive)

Of course! But I'll have to skip the pie, otherwise I won't be able to comfortably ride in aero

 Hahahaha....fire in the hole!!!

It's all about hopping on a wheel for the service road rides...unless you want to flex some muscle like Erik R and lead the whole way!

I had an absolute blast on this ride yesterday - much more enjoyable than my previous century endeavor (Montauk).

Amazing what a little pacing, hydration and nutrition will do. For those of you who couldn't make it out this time, I hope to see you there next year!

Dan:

Glad you had a great time.  I was actually out by Wildwood State Park and saw a bunch of the riders....made me wish I was with you guys. Hopefully next year.

Tim
