I've started answering the phone here at work:

"Regional, this is Eunice."

Sometimes I add "Thanks for calling, this is Eunice" or "This is Eunice, how can I help you?"

You know, just to mix it up. Its quite fun.

When I was 20 I used to work at a department store.  We all had to wear nametags and I made myself one that said "Aretha Franklin".  In eight months only 2 people ever noticed. But it made me happy.

Whenever I call a workplace of a friend/relative, I always say that it's Theodore Nugent calling.

when i was in the army, we had ID badges that we had to wear in the office and they had our picture on it. so i cut out a picture of madonna and glued it on. it took 6 months for any one to notice.

i get customers that always ask me "is your name REALLY abraham?" to which i respond, "thats what it says on my name tag" and no one ever notices that below my 'crazy' name is manager. i get the "can i speak to the manager?"

One of our sites is the old Kalama Chemical site and it's an unmanned site. We have an office there and whenever we're out there the only folks who call there is ..well, our main office or other employees. One day I was there and the phone rang. I picked it up and loudly said, "Kalama". to which the puzzled telemarketer on the other end very slowly replied, "Do - you- speak- English?".  To which I equally as slowly responded,"YES- I- DO!" For the longest time after that our "Good mornings" and "Hellos" were replaced with "KALAMA".

One of my first jobs was to work for a market research company that took surveys over the phone in the evening time when everyone in their right mind was sitting down to dinner.

Everyone had their answering machines screen calls which obviously made it difficult for me to meet my quotas. Drastic times called for drastic measures, so I started leaving messages that went something like this:

"Hello, this is Chris from the California State Lottery Board, I just wanted to get in touch with [person's name] to let them know that they've..."

Amazingly I never got past "they've", every one of them picked up gasping for breath.

Ahh to be 16 again. Good times good times...

i used to work overnights at a Target and we all took our "uniform" rather loosly.  One day we got a new manager who started cracking down on Name tag useage.  Now people were known to lose name tags or just take them off and throw them away all the time, so I'd grab them.  I had a colection of about 10 to 12.

So as soon as he started being anal about it, I started wearing them...a new one every night.  The funny thing is when he's talk to you he'd try and be personable and call you by first name. So as he's trying to learn everybody's name, mine would be constantly changing.  So he'd actually remember my "name" and when he'd walk up, address me and start talking, I'd just give him weird looks until he looked at my name tag.  Confused the hell out of him.

He FINALLY caught on when I was "Tina" for the day.

After that, i snuck into the vendor bin and was "Frito Lay" for the term of my employment
