Subject: RE: Belmar Sprint Triathlon : Official ThreadI live right by here; unfortunately won't be there for the race. The course is flat, flat, flat. The run probably has an elevation gain of ~1 meter - the distance to get up on the boardwalk. The bike is similar. A three loop course means that there will be lapping by the faster guys.
The ocean is hit-or-miss. It's inside hurricane season; the surf could be 12+ foot, it could be ~1 foot. Unless there's a storm, water in that area is traditionally pretty clean in the morning. Wind should be minimal in the morning.
There will probably be a bunch of walkers out on the boardwalk, and it does get narrow at a few points, but hopefully people aren't clueless and will get out of the way at the choke points.
The lifeguards in town are quite good, both at lifeguarding and setting up courses. |
