Florida Triathlon Series returns to Clermont's Waterfront Park in 2009.  Each race features a 1/4 mile swim, 8 mile bike, and a 3 mile run.  There will be lots of cool prizes and awards at each race with special series awards being awarded to the series winners in each division.  

2009 Central Florida Triathlon Series Schedule is now set!

I did it.  Did all three actually.  I think there were 400 finishers today.  Glad to see all my buddies out there.

Yes thats me.  I am happier to say my wife Kimberly did the same for the female.

Long Story, most of it is in the race report...
Basically lost head in swim, forgot how to swim for a few seconds, could only doggie paddle.  Went down from there mentally stopped racing,  During the run, I started hyperventalating, ran out of air, screamed and laid down about 10 minutes into the run.  Could not get breathing regulated, it was rapid and shallow.  Within a few seconds of laying down, I had 5 people around me supporting me.  1 Nurse, 2 racers who stopped to help and 2 others.  Within a short time, the EMTs were on the scene, trying to get an EKG, too sweaty and trembling...  Finally put in ambulance and cooled enough to get some leads to work.  I refused the trip to the ER, so my wife walked me back to the car, went and got my bike, and headed for home....  Instead of a series trophy, I got a DNF....

We will be there.   Maybe do the half though.  But were at www.GearforMultisport.com everyday (shameless plug).

Otter, no shame in trying.  Might help you to chant something like "you've done this in training many times over"...  u get it. 

Better to DNF that DOA, so, get up, dust off your shorts and try again!   Better luck next time.

Like Macca said, if "triathlons" were easy, everybody would be doing it.

My hubby did this race... I was a spectator this time around. It was extremely well run (as all Sommer Sports events are). The athletes and the fans were all just great! We have vowed to get back up to Clermont next year for at least one or two events.

Team Grogan... amazing stuff! Wowza!

I was the loud girl at the finish line (in compression socks) cheering everyone in and loving every second of it! As much as I love to race, sometimes it's nice to just sit back and watch others do it.

Otter_sh: Hubby and I saw the ambulance tending to someone as we were leaving! Good grief, I can't believe that was you. I hope that you are recovering/have recovered well.

Still suffering from mental pains, due to embarrasment....  No physical issues, that I know of...  Seeing Dr on Friday to discuss this among a bunch of other things....
