Two weeks left. And I'm off to Sacramento. No I don't have a job waiting for me. I'm excited and nervous. Emphasis on the excited. I've been in the Dallas area since I was four. Vacations don't count as leaving the area. Not to mention, if I don't feel like it, I never have to work in a cubicle again. I'm saying goodbye to these four walls. Luckily I've got all the tri stuff I need. Since I'm not going to have any money for awhile.

Got no money and I don't care. Got no money and I don't care. Hee Hee. Its kind of a lie I've been saving for this moment. I'm not as carefree as I'd like to let on. Now if only I could take all of my friends and my brother with me.

Thank goodness I don't work in a cubicle (and never have). I don't think I ever will either.

Famous last words.  You just jinxed yourself (I say this from experience).

Speaking for fellow triathletes in the Sacramento area, we welcome you.

But why Sacramento?

I've always wanted to live in CA. I have family to stay with until I get my feet planted. Great triathlon training area. Tahoe, the ocean (still closer than the Gulf of Mexico), I rather be poor and live in a city with an active lifestyle, than live in a materialistic city, its the capital, its a college town, makes me think of Austin, which if I was staying in Texas is where I would want to live and plan on one day buying land near. I was born in Hawaii, but I've been in Texas since I was 4, where else would I go?

almost 3 years ago I came home one day, threw all my crap into my car and drove from Chicago to San Diego to move in with some old college buddies.  It was scary, I had no job, almost no money, but it was one of the best things I've ever done.  I had a blast out there, made some great friends, learned to surf (became so addicted to it), was introduced to triathlon, and got to experience life in Cali.

It's going to be awesome, have fun!  I have to ask though, why land-locked Sacremento?!  Why not San Fran or San Diego?

Rent free. Place to get started while finding a job or starting my own business. It easier to find a job in Cali, if your in Cali, than from Texas.

Ah, I think I'm you, just a few weeks later. I just moved from Ft. Collins, CO to Helena, MT. I love it here, but not having a job sucks. I never thought I would say that. I thought it was going to be all romantic and envisioned a footloose and fancy-free life. Nope. I have no money and nothing is looking overwhelmingly optimistic for getting any money. I wouldn't say I regret anything, because I know it'll all pan out in the end, but for now it sucks...

If you like the word "hella" then you'll fit right in.  Northern California is where it originated.

Sac has a zillion tri-clubs.  Well, at least two.  Or three.  My friend Kyle lives there and trains with a group in Rocklin.  We do a series of races there through the summer, with a group called Total Body Fitness.  In fact, they have the all-women's Luna Bar Challenge Sprint coming up in Oct.

What kid of work are you looking for?

My favorite episode!  With the cross-dimensional psycho pet shop and the spooky vision (barbara streisand in all 4 corners of the screen!).

Karen,
I am currently a Cost Segregation Associate Consultant. In other words I do all the analyzing and my boss signs all the reports. We depreciate assets for new construction and renovation and also do purchase price allocation for new purchases. We actually do a lot of work in S. Cal, but I didn't want to move to Irvine.

To be quite honest I don't want to do this line of work anymore. I would like to interact with people. I wouldn't mind working on a team doing something. I want to feel productive. My degree is in Financial Consulting and my interest lie in teaching, coaching, human rights, and art. Go figure.

I'm hoping by joining a tri group or masters swim team I'll meet some people. You can never have too many friends or training partners.
