I think there are a few people around from there, but not sure.  Here's a link to a bike shop in town that you might be able to contact and get some info on rides:

http://hattiesburgbicycle.com/

and here is a list of routes I found.  Don't know how current it might be:

I would also be interested in this post. My wife and I are moving to Hattiesburg in July and are eagerly looing forward to meeting the tri and cycling community. We went down for the 1st annual Eagleman Sprint Tri and really enjoyed it.  I have read about the Trace but have yet to ride it or even jog on it.

I live in Hattiesburg and work at USM. The Payne Center has a 50 yard pool. There is a Y in Hattiesburg and also Petal. Both Y's have master swim.

The trace is a great place to ride and run. There is a Sunday group ride every week that starts at the trail head (USM) that begins at 1:30 each week. There is also a pretty big goup of triathletes doing their own thing in and around the pine belt.

I do long runs and ride every Saturday and Sunday either alone or with groups of people. Let me know when any of you are in town and I bet we can hook up. I'm also in the local running club - the pine belt pacers - lots of runners.

Hey all, my name is Phillip.  My wife and family are from H'burg and live there now.  I am finishing up in Afghanistan and will be living there starting in June.  I have been training for my first season of triathlon while I have been deployed.  I want to start a tri club when I get there with the hopes of developing a group of folks to train with, trade experiences/knowledge, swap gear, motivate and help the long workouts go by easier.

So the point of this post is to find out what kind of interest I could get for this.  I envision a dedicated group with the "in it to win it" mentality.  Get togethers and training will be relaxed and fun but with a purpose....to improve and move up the ranks at the finish line.  I want a group that pushes each other to get better.  Women are welcome as well, I can think of 2 that I know that would be interested.

So, it's still 3 months from now but I wanted to get this up soon to let people trickle in and find it.  My personal email is [email protected].  Email me there with your interest and I'll keep in touch and save your contact info.  I would like to have a website where we can all communicate so if anyone has any knowledge of that, bring it on.  Also be thinking of any names for the club.

Hope to hear from you, feel free to email me or post here in this thread.

Phillip

There is a tri club in the works. Ben Hughes (the guy that does the eagleman tri in the fall and the april fools dualthon in the spring) is working on getting one together.

I ride with a group on Tuesday / Thursday mornings at about 6AM (once the light gets a little better). I also ride many Saturday mornings.

As far as hills go - just south of 98 in Oak grove has some hills (oloh purvise road / WPA / Kinght , etc). I logged 'a thousand miles' last year training for IMKY.

I am also involved with the running club ( pinebeltpacers.org ). Drop by there forum if you are looking for a running partner.

I live in Hattiesburg and just started getting serious about tri training in January. A friend and I do some bike rides on the Longleaf trace starting at Jackson rd station. I'm still a pretty slow biker so haven't tried to join up with any group rides.
