Subject: Who can resist a disco beat?
Quoting Valarie Cherish, and having just bought a cheap-o disco combo cd at Target, I've been cranking the disco for two days now.

Disco helps.

Sadly, my BF can and does every chance he gets, which is often considering I can't.    I don't understand the "I hate Disco" mentality though.  They're probably the same people who don't like Polka.

BeeGees, Donna Summer, Disco Tex and the Sexolettes, Andrea True Connection, Gloria Gaynor, K.C. and the Sunshine Band.

Love that stuff. The Saturday Night Fever CD is never far from my computer.

Who doesn't like Polka!?!

I will always remember seeing an interview that Jazz legend Dr. Billy Taylor did with Ray Charles where he asked him about the variety of music Charles had recorded, country, gospel, blues, jazz, soul etcetera and Charles said "There are onlyl two kinds of music: Good music and bad music".

I hear ya!  I swear, if Polka doesn't make you at least tap your toes, you need to see a doctor, 'cause you're nearly dead!  For Christmas two years ago, I made my mom a Polka CD.  I do think that it has become her all-time favorite CD.

Or how about The Dazz Band and "Let It Whip"
Even better Cameo singing "Word Up"
And Wild Cherry bringing the Juice with "Play that Funky Music"
Then again there is Rick James and "Superfreak"
But wait this album gets better with Parliament and "Flashlight"
K.C. and The Sunshine Band want us all to "Shake, Shake, Shake" your booty
All this for $19.99, But wait there is more. You get the soul thumping sensations
of The Commodores grooving to "Brick House" along with the rythmic dance floor
Funk of Peaches & Herb with "Shake your Groove Thing" and rounding out
this allstar collection we have Mother's Finest singing TWO smash hits
"Baby Love & Mickey's Monkey"
Order now The Pirate is standing by.........

I train to the disco beat! "Pure Disco 1, 2, and 3" forever live in my ipod. The solid beat keep my strides short and rapid. Kylie's Fever is a very good album, if you dig disco.

I can resist disco, unless I am trashed at the typical wedding and they are jamming disco then something posses by body and takes over.

Never underestimate the benefits of a jamming disco body possession.

Try it sober, un-typically, and without resistance. You might have fun.

Oh wait...

Well, that's no good for training! I guess you should resist a disco beat!
C'est la. I hope you get down to something?

Don't forget Sugar and the Gang with Rappers Delight, (I think that's right...I've got the song stuck in my head!), Blondie's Rapture, ABBA, the list is endless.

I just might have to mix some of this stuff on my MPS with all the NIN, Metallica, and Motley Cru for the truly eclectic mix.

Close... that's The Sugarhill Gang.  Great song.  I'm a big fan of everything from Earth, Wind and Fire.  In fact, I think I'll annoy my BF for a bit.  Bwahahahahaha!

Ahhh yeah, Sugarhill...that's right. Every Friday night our local radio station does the
Retro Ride Home" for the commuters and it is full of my 70's favorites...and 80's favs too. So weird to think that the music I listened to is considered retro now. Does that mean I'm old?? My husband, who ONLY listens to country (unless he's training, then it's purely Metallica) HATES my disco tunes on Fridays!
