Or to put it properly - FOOTBALL! Real Football that you play using your – feet! Anyway – enough of that. This summer the top European teams are doing pre season Friendlies in The USA. And for the First time in 40 years my team, Liverpool, will be here!

Anyone else going / give a stuff??

I vote for not giving a stuff. Every time I hear about soccer, I think of the Simpsons episode where Homer is at the game and two guys are kicking the ball back and forth...BORING! Then a fight breaks out and turns into a riot and the fans suddenly wake up! Classic!

I'm a fringe sport junkie...motorcycle road racing, bicycle racing. And I did watch the NCAA swimming championships on ESPN the other day...wow those were great! Lot of short course world records set!

Mike,

I have to agree with everyone else. I have went to a few soccer games here and have not been able to enjoy them as much as I enjoy other sports.

soccer seems to be a bit pointless to me...i mean think about it you have what 8 or 10(the # really doesnt matter) people running after a little ball trying to shoot it into the world biggest net and yet the scores are still only 1 nil as they say...almost as boring as watching tennis
i just painted a room in my house, hurry everyone grab a chair we can watch the paint dry

Max,

You hit the nail right on the head with the Simpsons episode. When I hear the word soccer, I too think of that Simpsons episode. "High kicking, low scoring, and ties? oh yes!" For some reason the sport does not excite me too much and I played it for six years.

However, all this talk about this Simpson's has got me wanting to watch it. I could go on and on, but I won't because this is what I have to say. The Simpson's is the best TV show ever. That is all. Good day.

I love soccer, and I play indoor during winter. I might play a game or two during summer with friends, but no organized summer soccer for me.
I'm looking forward to the tour this summer as it's coming to Toronto.
Glasgow Celtics vs. Roma, July 31st. It's going to be huge, lot of Italians and Scots in Southern Ontario. They are even going to make a real grass pitch inside Skydome for the day.

As for the people who don't like it you are missing out on one of the most beautiful and skillfull sports in the world, played by some of the best athletes in the world of sports.
None of the major sports demand such a balance between aerobic fitness and sport-specific skills. Average player will cover around 6 miles a game (90 minutes), often more, with average heart rates between 150-170 bpm.
There are no sissy breaks for commercials, no rests, just 22 people on the pitch, with one ball and two nets. Doesn't get much simpler than that and that is a part of it's appeal and beauty.

I noticed that in the men's leagues you have some great athlete's, well conditioned, but they are the biggest babies!  You blow on those guys and they fall over.  They barely get clipped and they hit the ground faster than Paris' undergarments.  And the fans, come on, what a bunch of lunitics!  They make the Oakland Raiders fans look like saints.  Any sport that you go to and your life might be in jeopordy and your not even playing is a totally out of control.

The English leagues tend to be the hardest and the fairest. Not much play acting with I hate with a passion. Too many players play the referee not the game and it won’t stop until the leagues crack down hard and fine the clubs for the actions of their players.

As for the Fans – I lived through some of the worst days in sports and their were times when it wasn’t pretty. Most of the time it could easily be avoided by most of those that wanted to avoided it. There is more violence n sport here in the USA by fans than in England. I have to say that those that cause trouble in the name of being a fans should be locked up – singing, shouting, chanting even verbal abuse (if its timely and funny) has its place – physical violence because of sport does not.

Soccer is awsome. I'm biased though. I played from when I could walk all through High School ( made the Varsity team ).

All you heathens just don't understand that football is meant to be played with your FEET.

I wasn't aware they were doing pre season in the US. I'll definitely have to check that out. Thanks for the tip!

I would rather watch Cycling, or Triathloning, or curling then Football, but it is better then the mainstream American sports. We watch baseball and call soccer boring. Check out Basketball and call soccer players babies. American football players get to stop and catch there breath every few seconds. I am not a huge fan, but I enjoy a good game every now and then.
