Master  2136    A Prairie Home |  Subject: Would you have swapped seats?Something got me thinking as I was flying back home. Would you always agree to swap seat with another passenger when asked? I said no to a guy simply because I didn't want to. And he let out a "da*n you, b*tch* sigh. Assuming that you are travelling solo, of course, and you are being asked to swap aisle for aisle or window for window. Would you have said "yes" under the following circumstances? |

Champion 8936 | Subject: RE: Would you have swapped seats? I went with the kid option. Laurie and I have be given separate seats on a few occasions, but we usually get them changed to be together. If I remember correctly, we've only not gotten it changed once. If you're gonna sleep at all, it's not a big deal. If I were alone, having two parents there to keep the kid quiet is worth it to me. |

I was settled in, 2. if they really wanted to sit together so badly, they could have asked the guy sitting in the window too (they didn't). Well. Apparently I am thinking too much. It is so hard when we travel with the kids as it is, not sitting together is the worst. There was only one time we weren't able to get our seats together and it was a real pain, otherwise the airlines have been great in getting us all together. |

I got on the plane going from Toronto to San Francisco (I had an aisle seat) and by the time I got on, there was a family spread out over my seat and across the aisle. When I told them their 9 y.o. was in my seat, they said "Well, we're all together so you can sit in his seat," which of course was the middle one. Grrr. That was so rude, and of course no other seats in the plane I could switch to. Man, that was so rude of them and still irks me to this day. It was my seat, and their fault for not getting assigned seats before the flight so the whole family was in one unit. The only good thing was I was so hungover from the, uh, meeting the night before I slept the whole flight home. |

Wow--you have a lot more self restraint and kindness than I. My reaction would have been along the lines of "not going to happen, Lady. Get your kid out of my seat." Had she not complied, a chat with the flight attendants would have been in order. Bill |
