I got on the plane going from Toronto to San Francisco (I had an aisle seat) and by the time I got on, there was a family spread out over my seat and across the aisle. When I told them their 9 y.o. was in my seat, they said "Well, we're all together so you can sit in his seat," which of course was the middle one. Grrr. That was so rude, and of course no other seats in the plane I could switch to. Man, that was so rude of them and still irks me to this day. It was my seat, and their fault for not getting assigned seats before the flight so the whole family was in one unit. The only good thing was I was so hungover from the, uh, meeting the night before I slept the whole flight home.
So you took the middle seat?!? Wow--you have a lot more self restraint and kindness than I. My reaction would have been along the lines of "not going to happen, Lady. Get your kid out of my seat." Had she not complied, a chat with the flight attendants would have been in order.
