Subject: Garmin 405 - Inaccurate mileage

My friend and I both have the Garmin 405.  Twice we have run together (side by side) and my mileage is higher than hers.  This morning we ran approximately 5 miles (which I know because we ran at a park with mileage markers).  Her Garmin said 5.08 and mine said 5.79.  Any ideas/suggestions to ensure that my mileage is accurate?

 Thanks!

 Julie

Wow, that is off by a lot. Are they both getting good signals? TC and/or GC should say what the overall satellite signal for the workout was.

Take a look at the speed graphs and see if there are any repeated spikes or dips that seem out of the ordinary. My 305 is usually right on, even in places other people have reported issues with (dense trees, laps around a track, etc).

Also, it sounds like that was what the devices themselves said when you compared side by side. What did the summary info say when you uploaded the workouts?
