Subject: Advice on Groin/Hammy soreness!?
I've been training for my 4th tri this season, an olympic. It's coming up this Sunday (Today is Tuesday). I played some touch football in the park this past sunday however and my gosh am I sore! OF course, I didn't stretch before or after the football game. Or, perhaps because my tri training doesn't do a lot of starts and stops, turns sprinting, etc... Well, woke up monday morning and I can barely walk without soreness pain. I don't think I pulled anything, I just thing that I used different muscles than I'm used to using, and caused major soreness. I still have similar pain this morning (Tuesday).

I didn't run or do anything Monday, which is usually a running day for me. It would have been less anyway due to my taper, but I just couldn't do it.

Any ideas on what I can do to get over this? Massage? Should I go for a recovery jog? Any advice would help.

Thanks!

Whenever I have tightness/soreness in the groin area, I always check my adductors.  Tight adductors can radiate pain to the groin area. Stretching helps some, but I always do some trigger work using my TP massage quad roller.  If you have one you can roll it from the insertion point all the way down the back of the hamstring area.  You can also try placing a TP massage ball or tennis ball at the insertion point to see if there is a release. Finally, you can also try straddling the arm of a chair, preferably wood pressing on the adductor.

I am sure this might be hard to visualize and sound a little kooky, but it works for me.
