Subject: Question about Michelin P3 clinchers
This past weekend I just put on a pair of brand new p3's on my race wheels and did a 100 mile ride with them. When I finished I noticed that the rear tire had a bunch of small cuts or splits along the middle of the tire. These were obviously caused by the road or something on the road. Before the p3's I had p2's that I probably put 2000 miles on and did not have these cuts or splits in the tires. Could the tire be defective or is it just something to expect from the new p3's because of the type of rubber being used?

I just replaced my rear Pro 3 Race this weekend due to the same issue. I have about 500 miles on mine and the front was fine, but the rear had developed several gouges/cuts/nicks on the first couple of rides.

Looking closely at the tire after I pulled it off, it seemed like it was mostly a cosmetic issue. None of them went very deep and the inside of the tire seemed structurally sound. With my first HIM this weekend, I didn't want to take any chances though.

I considered switching tires, but with the front holding up well, I figured I'd just run over a nasty patch of glass or something. Since I like them otherwise and haven't had any flats so far (knock on wood) I'm giving it one more go.
