Subject: Finger injury?

Ok..I feel like a wuss for even asking this. I torqued/jammed/bent my little finger back over 6 weeks ago. It is still very swollen and bruised at the middle knuckle and hurts to grip, bend, twist, pull, bear weight, or push on the tip.

I had an amateur x-ray at the chiropractor and we didn't see any breaks or evulsions, but a radiologist never looked at it. Is this worth even seeing a doctor about? Can there be long term effects from this? Should I just splint it for 4 weeks and see what happens?

It's really a non-critical finger, but it hurts. Am I being a baby?

Yes. MRI can rule out tendon avulsions and tears. Even a better look at a better X-ray can show things which were missed. An ER doc missed a break in our daughter's toe which a radiologist later saw in the same image. Sounds like you need better advice and insight. Swelling and bruising indicate that it's definately not "nothing".
