Subject: Yasso 800s
So when I was running today I randomly thought of Yasso 800's and I would like to share my experience.

From mcmillianrunning.com

Yasso 800s
  • .."The theory behind Yasso 800s is that your time in minutes and seconds for a workout of 10 times 800 meters (two laps of the track) with equal recovery time is the same as the hours and minutes of your marathon time. For example, if you can run 10 times 800 meters in three minutes and 20 seconds with three minutes and 20 seconds recovery, then this predicts that you can run three hours and 20 minutes for your marathon. Run 2:40 for the 800s and you can run 2:40 for the marathon."

  • I think it is funny I ran my 800s at 2 minutes and 56 seconds and my final marathon time was 2:56:07. So if you are looking for a fun marathon predictor workout you should give it a shot. I did this 3 times during my 3 months of training.

I just read up on it ...Interesting. I've been running 1/2 marathons and under for a few years but will be  training for my 1st marathon this May. I may  try and incorporate this as I have a specific goal in mind (BQ within three attempts....shouldn't be that hard Im OLD!!).
