Event warmup:

Considered first couple of miles as warmup and did them relaxed and easy.
Run
  • 4h 54m 36s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 11m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

At halfway mark was at around 2:04 and figured I'd finish in just over 4 hours. Then foot starting hurting. By 3/4 mark I was having to walk part of the way due to the pain for a few miles. In the last few miles foot hurt the same walking or jogging (running was out of the question) so I was able to jog the last few miles attempting to come in under 5 hours which I did.
What would you do differently?:

Buy new running shoes closer to race date. Break them in but don't use for most training. (I bought new running shoes shortly after, same brand & model, and couldn't believe how broke down the old ones were) Definetely need seperate training and racing shoes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Overworn shoes.

Event comments:

Enjoyed the race even the double out and back course. The only thing that will stop me from running it again is the urge to run marathons in other states. But overall I couldn't have asked for more from my first marathon.

Great job on your first marathon!!!!  Isn't it a great feeling? I'm still reliving my memories from Shamrock this past week-end. Super job with your time, especially considering your foot woes.Enjoy your accomplishment.
