![]() Run
Comments: This was a good run. For me to run less than ten minute miles is pretty good. What would you do differently?: Nothing really.... ![]() Transition 1
Comments: The hardest part of this was putting on my helmet while wearing gloves. What would you do differently?: Next time I will put my helmet on my handlebars instead of in my crate. ![]() Bike
Comments: In the second mile of the bike, I dropped my water bottle! Those dang gloves again! Because of this, I had to ride 15 very tough miles with NOTHING to drink! What would you do differently?: Next time, I will take two water bottles in case I drop one. I have a place for two bottles, but I only took one because I wanted my bike to be as light as possible. From now on, I will be glad to carry that extra little bit of weight. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: This transition was very smooth for me. I was just happy to be able to get something to drink! ![]() Run
Comments: This run was good too. I thought I would be exhausted from the bike, but my legs felt pretty good when I started running. ![]() Post race
Warm down: For the cooldown, I really just stretched and re-hydrated. What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing really...I truly did the best I could... I know that I need to get more miles on the bike, though. I plan to do that starting this week. Event comments: I really enjoyed this race. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The only downside about it, was that there were no mile markers for the run OR the bike. It would have helped (especially on the bike) to know where I was and how close to the finish. Before the race, I had a goood night's sleep. The change to Daylight's Savings time meant that when I woke up at 5:00 AM to leave for the race, my body's time clock was really at 4:00 AM. I was so excited about that the time change didn't seem to bother me that much. Before the race, I had a gatorade and two rice crispy treats.
I rode my bike for a bit to make sure that everything was good to go. I stretched some and jogged a little. Since this was my first duathlon, I was more concerned with getting my transition area set up correctly and making sure that I knew the course.
