Swim
Comments: I guess my lack of swimming showed. Not my best effort by far, but not horrible. My race plan was to take it easy as I haven't been in the pool much. I felt comfortable throughout the swim and was 100% happy I didn't wear the wetsuit. The water was felt good and was never cold. It also saved me a boat load of time in transition. What would you do differently?: The obvious thing would be to swim more. Work has limited my pool time and I need to make more of an effort while I am on the road to get more swims in. Transition 1
Comments: I actually was pretty happy with my transition. The fact that I didn't have to shuck the wetsuit was a big plus. What would you do differently?: Not much Bike
Comments: I hit the bike pretty hard for the most part. I was pretty happy with my time. What would you do differently?: I still need to get out more on the bike and tri-bike in particular. My back was pretty tight towards the end of the bike. Only cure is more saddle time. Transition 2
Comments: Had a good T2 (for me). Did forget my number for a brief second. Kudos to the volunteer who reminded me. What would you do differently?: Not much other than remember my number. Run
Comments: Well, I pushed the bike pretty hard so I wasn't sure how the run would go. Turned out okay. I was shooting for a sub 50 min 10K and came in just under the wire. I was a bit crampy at times, but as soon as I thought my legs were going to lock, the cramps faded. What would you do differently?: Not much. Pretty happy with it overall. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some gatorade as my limited drinking on the run was starting to catch up to me. After a couple of bottles full, my legs felt much better. I went and said thanks to the guy I paced with for a mile or so. Watched a few people finish and then went and got the gear and bike from transition and headed home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training Event comments: I hadn't done the Peachtree City International before as it has been the same weekend as Florida 70.3. This year I decided to change things up with my race schedule and thought I would give this race a tri (pun intended) instead. Just as is the case with the PTC sprint, the international distance race is as well run and an absolute joy to do. Depending on my race plans next year, I will certainly consider doing it again.
