Subject: Polar RS100 vs RS200
I can't decide whether to purchase a polar rs100 heart rate monitor or a rs200.

The main differences between the two I have found to be is that the rs100 is the more basic of the two. The rs100 can set maximum heart rates and zones manually?? Which is basically all I want.

However, the rs200 has computer software associated with it. This will be quite beneficial if I want to do intervals as you can set in the times of your intervals pre-workout and then the heart rate zone changes.

With the rs100, can I change the zones mid work out?

I'm leaning more towards the rs100 as I'm not really sure about the need and the complexity of the rs200 with all the additional software. I want to use it for olympic and longer races in the future. I want it for running, cycling training and then races.

Thanks.

Oh any experience with either watch and your input would be great. Also are the pictures below what the software looks like??

I have the RS200. (Actually the RS200SD which includes a footpod that I really like)  I don't feel the "software" is worth the extra money, as it's not actually software but a website that you upload your data to. They may have updated the website since I tried it out a couple years ago, and I can't remember exactly what it encompassed, but I do remember being underwhelmed when I played around with it.

You don't change the zones mid workout for either watch.  You pre-set them to whatever zone you believe your zones to be so that you can see how long you spent in each zone during a workout.  This can be tricky, because w/out having a professional assessment, you're just taking a shot in the dark at what those zones are.

I'm hoping someone else can chime in here who has been using the website recently to see if it is more functional now to be worth the extra money you'd spend on it.

Good luck!
