Subject: What happens when Nature calls?
This is my first year doing triathlons and I don't have much background in them. But I do know that some of these races can be LONG (Ironman especially) Can someone please shed some insight as to what people do when they have to use the bathroom at mile 60 of a 112 mile ride? or in the middle of the run? Are there bathrooms at transition areas? What if there is a line? I don't see/hear about triathletes waiting in line to pee.

I am doing a half ironman in September and feel so in the dark about this subject. Especially when all the book i have read say that you need to drink (and eat) during these longer races... Based on how much they say I need to eat/drink I'd be at the bathroom every hour. So what do we do when Nature calls??

Thanks to anyone who can give some advice/personal stories on this topic (one which never seems to be discussed)

If nature calls, you go to the porta potty.  Or, if you don't feel like it, you pee on yourself.  Based on the amount you're drinking it's pretty much clear anyway.  I don't know what you do if you get the trots and there's not a bathroom handy.  Public nudity is against the rules, so it'd be hard to duck off in the woods.  Personally, that's why I take immodium ad before my races and cut way back on fiber before the race.
