Subject: Bike

I have been training for almost 3 months for my 1st triathlon sprint during ths 1st week of October.  I have yet to buy a bike because I wanted to make sure that I was serious about doing this.  The 1st three months I just rode a stationary bike.  I have no idea of what kind of bike to buy and what I should stay away from.  My price range is between $1200-$1400.  I guess I just wanted some input on what I can get for this price range and quality.

I would stick with a roadie (vs. a tri bike).  You should have no problem finding an aluminum framed bike with Shimano 105 parts.  This is a great set-up and will last a long time.  I would also recommend buying clipless pedals and shoes at the same time, which adds a minimum of $150 or so.  And make sure it fits!!
