Subject: 'converting' a road bike to tri bike
I purchased a used road bike (Specialized Allez) from a co-worker who is a big time biker to compete in triathlons. I used it for my 1st triathlon, and am planning on using it for this season (two more tri's (one sprint, one olympic)) and probably next before going full-bore into a tri-bike.

Couple of questions.

1. I have read some articles stating a forward 'canted' seat post can do some work to making a road bike more tri friendly. Does anybody have any experience with this, I'd be interested in hearing comments. On a side note, any particular models to look at, I've been looking at the Profile Design Fast Forward.

2. I'm also looking at clip-on aerobars. Which should be my first purchase be? I'm not anywhere near a podium finisher, but would like to compete to the best of my ability.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, it's an idea that has been done for a long time... but, to make it work right...you have to re-fit the bike to your new body positon... it not just about changing the seat post and adding some aerobars. It's about re-fitting the bike with those changes taken into consideration. Here is a good sight that migh help you out....
