Total Time = 1h 11m 59s
Overall Rank = 141/292
Age Group = F35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/24
Pre-race routine:

Same as always.... bagel with cream cheese two hours before. Marcie got to my house early and we chit-chatted a little before getting everything ready to go.
Event warmup:

Biked the 2.5 miles to the venue, got transition area ready (easy without having a swim involved!), walked around. Had a gel about 30 minutes prior.
Run
  • 17m 32s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Not a bad run -- I think this is probably the first time I've ever put two 8 minute miles together. At one point, my extra gel flipped out of my back pocket -- went back to retrieve it and when I was about to bend over and pick it up, a girl stepped on it. (I had some not so nice words for her echoing through my head at that point). Despite this, still a fast run. In the end, I was probably working too hard, though, because my bike suffered due to the run.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe back off the pace a little. I had forgotten my watch (doh!!), so I didn't know how fast I was going.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Good transition. Probably about 1:30.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 35m 8s
  • 11 miles
  • 18.78 mile/hr
Comments:

Spent the first couple miles of the bike recovering from the run, and my time reflects that. Not far out of the transition area, there were some (smaller) hills to contend with that just reinforced the fact that I had run too hard. By the second half of the race, though, I got into a better groove and made up some time.
What would you do differently?:

Run a little easier so that I could really pound the bike, since I think I could make up more time there. Also - I was stupid - forgot to put air in my tires beforehand, and I think my back tire was a little low. Stupid mistake.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Good transition, probably about 1:30 again.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 19m 20s
  • 2 miles
  • 09m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

This run killed me. Just couldn't get my feet going, and kept getting slower and slower and slower.... and, after having been overcast all morning, the sun started coming out, which made things really warm.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster. :)
Post race
Warm down:

Saw Marcie come in, and then we found a spot in the shade to rest for a bit. Then - found out our official times, and then got the bikes and biked back to my house.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat. Back tire needed more air. Gauging effort better so I'm better able to perform well on all three legs.

Event comments:

Bike course was closed off, which was nice. Event was well-organized, for the most part. Goody bag was nothing special, as were the post-race eats.
